Ochaye Collies
(pronounced ok-eye)
Australia

In December and January of 1991, we travelled to Scotland for 4 weeks.

My husband had business in Glasgow and we stayed in the home of close Scottish friends. During one of the weekends we drove up through the rugged countryside, passed snow-capped mountains and finally arrived at the town of Culloden.

Here, we stayed in ‘Culloden House’ (pictured above) and Timothy, our son,(then aged 4), saw two Collie Roughs for the first time. Being the Christmas Season they were in magnificent coat and for Timothy it was love at first sight.

Upon arriving back in Australia we acquired our first Collie pup. The breeder, Mrs Rita Bulow, who knew of our Scottish trip registered our chosen pup's kennel name as 'Sabendale Scottish Memry', and of course, for a pet name, we christened him ‘Culloden’. Culloden was to become our first Australian Champion.

Within a few months we commenced showing and so began our experiences in the world of dogs.

When the time came for the selection of a Prefix name it was only natural that we would think back with fond memories and

AH YES !

OCHAYE !

was the only way to go.
